The news for the week:

  • According to the results of a study by the Centre for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-Term Forecasting based on the results of 2020:

- The number of registered legal entities in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities was 8.2% lower than at the end of 2019 (for comparison, the number of legal entities in the register decreased by about the same amount - 8.3% in 2019).

- There are 24.3% fewer new legal entities registered in 2020 than in 2019.

- The number of closed legal entities in 2020 was 16.7% lower than in 2019.

- Per one established company, there were 2.3 legal entities that ceased operations (a year earlier, the ratio was 2.1).

 

  • CEO of a company that organises exhibitions, conferences and other events for agricultural and industrial companies: "The restaurant business had a tough year in 2020, but we are looking to the future with hope and have already started preparations for the summer gastronomic festival, which on the one hand can be a beacon worth surviving for, and on the other hand, it can then become an impulse for further growth.
  • Director of an online training company: "We are opening a new (for us) field of training in a profession we consider to be the profession of the near future: IP-lawyers - specialists in the field of intellectual property".
  • From UK partners: "Businesses today feel very different. The service sector is in anabiosis, online retailing and delivery is booming. Machine manufacturing has fallen to the levels of the 1980s. Telecoms are doing well so far, but if the rest of the economy continues to shrink, businesses won't need telecoms..."
  • Despite summer forecasts of a 3.3% decline, the Turkish economy has shown a marginal growth of 0.9% at the end of 2020. Economists believe this is the result of measures taken by the country's government during the coronavirus epidemic - in particular the provision of credit incentives.
